Dosage Information For Xenical
Regardless of age, weight, and if other medical conditions are present, everyone takes the same Xenical dosage. Taking the medicine strictly as directed by our health care provider is essential. Example of dosage would be to take Xenical three times a day with each meal that contains fat, but if you eat a meal that does not contain fat, you should skip a dose of the Xenical medicine.
Only one standard dose of Xenical (orlistat) has been developed so far, and it is given to everyone regardless of weight, medical conditions, or age. Unless your health care provider instructs you to adjust your dosage of Xenical, it is not recommended that you make that change.
Xenical 120 mg or one capsule is the recommended dosage for weight maintenance or weight loss in adults and children 12 years of age and older, and must be taken three times a day with each meal that includes fat. You can take Xenical up to one hour after your meal, but it is best if you take it with your meal; if you take it more than one hour after your meal it is less effective. You should skip a dose of Xenical I you eat a meal that does not contain fat or if you skip a meal throughout the day. Xenical is recommended to be used with an appropriate diet plan; it is not to be used along.
If you are taking Xenical it is recommended that you also take a multivitamin once a day, at least two hours before or two hours after taking Xenical, as it can decrease the absorption of certain vitamins from your diet. Bedtime is a good time to take your multivitamins if you are taking Xenical.
People taking Xenical are given the following considerations:
* You should skip a dose of Xenical if you have a meal that does not contain fat or if you miss a meal.
* Talk with your pharmacist, doctor, or nurse if you are not sure about anything that is related to your Xenical dosage.
* Xenical is to be taken by mouth three times a day, with each meal that contains fat. Xenical comes in capsule form.
* Xenical must be taken as directed by your healthcare provider, for it to work properly.
* Normally, you should try to limit your intake of fat to less than 30 percent of your total daily calories. Eating too much fat will increase the risk of Xenical side effects. This medication should be combined with a low-fat, low-calorie diet.
