How Starving Yourself Won’t Help You Lose Weight
Losing weight is actually very simple. If you want to lose one pound in a week, you will only need to reduce your calorie intake each day by 300 to 500 calories. You can also do this by doing a little bit of exercise. However, if you do this by skipping meals, it is a very unhealthy thing to do.
Skipping breakfast, which a lot of people do, or reducing your overall calories per day to less than 1,000 will only hurt your efforts to lose weight. This is because it will make your metabolism rate decrease, and will put your body into “starvation mode.” Starvation mode will only make your body counterbalance the low amount of calories, and you metabolism rate can reduce down to 10%-15%. Then your body will keep the fat and, in turn, burn any lean muscle that you have. Also, when you skip a meal, you will feel really hungry. This will just make you overeat the next time you have a meal. That’s not going to help you lose any weight.
A good balance of reducing your total calories each day by 500 would be to decrease your intake of calories by 250 and burn the remaining 250 by doing a simple workout, like going on a brisk walk. Make sure that you still have your three balanced meals a day, because that is the safest and healthiest way to lose weight.
