Phen-Pro
Phen-Pro is a pill that uses the combination of phentermine and low doses of Zoloft, Prozac, Celexa, Trazadone, Lexapro, and Effexor. The addition of the other medicines is essential because phentermine alone would stop working after a few weeks.
How Phen-Pro Works
The second medicine included in the formulation made phentermine work better and much longer. Although the second medicine is an antidepressant, its use in the combination of phen-pro is not related to depression. The combination is needed because of the effects of Phentermine, if used alone, will lessen over time. Phen-Pro cocktail enables Phentermine to work better for a longer period of time. This cocktail doesn’t cause any problems unlike Fen-Phen.
However, the combination of Phentermine and Prozac is considered to be an off label use. This means, the Food and Drug Administration, the legal body who voices out concerns about the combination and mixing of medications, did not approved Phentermine and Prozac combination. As soon as the agency approves this combination, doctors can prescribe it at will.
Caution
Although preliminary research has proven the short term benefits of Phen-Pro, it is still not approved by the FDA. The long term benefits and side effects are still unknown, making it risky to take. Refer to Phentermine to know more about the side effects and cautions.
