Insomnia and Ephedra
If you are taking Ephedra and insomnia occurs, you might experience other side effects that could potentially be dangerous, namely, irregular heart rhythm or high blood pressure. Ephedra is a type of stimulant; therefore, it can cause insomnia. It is important that you tell your healthcare provider if you start to develop insomnia while you are taking Ephedra.
One of the side effects of Ephedra is insomnia. Ephedra is a stimulant drug and most stimulants cause insomnia.
Below is a list of symptoms that people with insomnia will experience:
* Waking up too early in the morning
* Experiencing sleep that is not refreshing
* Having trouble falling asleep
* Waking up often during the night and having trouble going back to sleep
It may actually be a bad sign if you develop insomnia while you are taking Ephedra, since it is a stimulant. Along with insomnia, you may also experience other stimulant side effects of Ephedra, like an irregular heart rhythm or arrhythmia, even a stroke or heart attack, and high blood pressure.
Because of health concerns, Ephedra was banned and is still presently banned from being sold in the U.S.
Although most people know that Ephedra has been banned in the U.S. and that it is dangerous, they seem to be willing to take risks just to drop a few pounds, while jeopardizing their health. Ephedra causes insomnia, which is one of the risks, even though it may not be a serious side effect. You should realize that it is a bad sign if you experience insomnia, and you should stop taking Ephedra immediately for the sake of your health.
