Why You Should Go Nuts this Holiday Season
In general, not many people would like to eat nuts or have nuts added in their favorite foods. However, what they don’t realize is that nuts are not only delicious but also healthy. So, now that the holiday season is fast approaching, there are a lot of reasons why you should go nuts.
Nuts are loaded with lots of protein, fiber, good fats, phytochemicals, and other nutrients. Aside from that, nuts can also help in keeping your heart healthy and also have potential benefits to your waistline.
The benefits of nuts to one’s cardiovascular health has been backed up by numerous studies. Consumption of nuts can decrease a person’s risk in developing cardiovascular diseases.
Believe it or not, nuts can also help in preventing obesity and maintaining the ideal weight. Since nuts contain fiber, it can make a person feel full; thus, preventing overeating. However, there are still not enough studies to prove this claim and researchers are still gathering more evidences regarding this matter.
Although all nuts contain fiber and protein, some nuts have the best sources of nutrients which makes them the best nuts among the rest. For calcium and vitamin E content, Almond has the highest content among the other varieties of nuts. As for peanuts, it contains an antioxidant called resveratrol which is known to aid in weight loss. Being an antioxidant, resveratrol also helps in eliminating free radicals in the body as well as preventing cancer.
Despite these health benefits, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you will eat a bowl full of nuts. Nuts are healthy but it also contains a lot of calories. Thus, nuts should be eaten in moderation. It would be advisable to eat nuts only in a handful per day as a snack. You can also add them as special ingredients to your favorite dishes such as salads.
Nuts should not only be consumed this holiday season but is should also be added to your diet. Just eat it in moderation.
