Why Maintaining Ideal Body Weight is Difficult
For those who would like to achieve their ideal body weight, losing weight is only half the battle. Keeping the weight off for good is actually more difficult than just to lose weight.
According to a new study, losing weight and keeping it off require two different approaches. As soon as you reach your target weight, you can’t go back to your old habits. If you do, you’ll see that those pounds will be gained back and usually, it will have extra pounds.
One of the main reasons why it is difficult to keep off the pounds for good is because the body is especially designed to fight off starvation. Hence, a drop in caloric intake would automatically cause the body to store energy, resulting to weight gain.
Therefore, if you are planning to lose weight by starvation, then you are not helping because it will just add up more to your weight.
Losing weight and keeping it off may seem to be the same ideas but they are different. Getting your ideal body weight isn’t just about shedding off pounds but you should also be able to effectively keep it off from coming back.
