What is Central Obesity?
Having excess weight is very harmful because it can predispose you to numerous health risks. However, the location where those extra pounds are stored can make your health risk worse.
Central obesity means, the extra pounds are stored in the central portion of the body, that is the stomach. Having too much weight on the middle of your body can predispose you to heart disease. Abdominal fat carries the greater risk for the development of heart diseases. These abdominal fat cells can cause more metabolic changes and such changes would include insulin resistance and tachycardia or rapid heartbeat.
Insulin resistance is a precursor for diabetes and if you don’t do something about your central obesity, it can lead to the development of diabetes.
According to experts, to determine whether you are at risk, your waist circumference will be able to tell you. Regardless of the height, if your waist circumference is more than 37 inches for a man and more than 31.5 inches for a woman, then you should consider losing weight or undergoing a weight loss program. Apparently, the higher the numbers, the greater your risk will be.
Before, it is too late, you need to lose weight or consult your physician about the best weight loss option for you.
