Generally speaking, counting the calories to prevent gaining weight can be a tough task especially if you were not used to doing it. Calorie counting can also be tricky because portion sizes can mislead us from knowing the actual caloric count of a food.

A new study shows that unexpected calories can result to weight gain. Those who are not counting calories properly especially on a weekend, the healthy diet might just be spoiled. If you are on a healthy diet and you failed to estimate the amount of calories that you are eating on weekends, you might end up destroying your diet plan. Hence, if you’d like to lose weight or maintain your desired weight, here are some tips on how to prevent gaining weight from weekend calories.

Maintain a regular waking schedule.

Usually, people tend to wake up later during the weekends. However, it is advised to wake up at the same time as you would during the weekdays so that the eating pattern would be the same.

Always eat breakfast.

Skipping meals is never advised. Hence, you should never skip meals, particularly breakfast since it is the most important meal of the day. According to studies, people who are eating breakfast are healthier and lighter compared to those who don’t eat breakfast. Just be sure that when you eat breakfast on weekends, you don’t overeat.

Check your weight before the weekend and after the weekend.

It would be best to check your weight before the weekend and as soon as the new week starts to determine if you have gained weight or not.

Workout during weekends.

Do not restrict yourself from working out only in the weekdays. Rather, you need to do intensive workouts during the weekends since you have more time. This is more effective since you are able to burn all the excess calories that you have missed counting.
