We are all familiar with the saying that an apple a day keeps a doctor away; however, some people are still wondering what are the real health benefits of apples.
Health researchers are still continuing their research about the health benefits of apples and they have been finding out more benefits associated with the consumption of this fruit.
Apple is a rich source of flavonoid and polyphenol. These two are very powerful antioxidants. According to studies, consuming 100 grams of apple would provide an antioxidant effect that is equivalent to taking 1,500 mg of Vitamin C.
Just like any other fruit, experts suggest to include apple in your diet because of the health benefits that it can provide. Apples can help in preventing cancer and other diseases if taken regularly. It can even promote weight loss since it is also rich in fiber and nutrients.
Apples can be eaten raw or it can be added to variety of dishes such as custards, pies, and salads. When purchasing apples, you should choose those that are firm and smooth. Avoid wrinkled apples because these ones have already lost the health benefits as well as the nutritional value contained in the food.
