The Association of Dementia and Belly Fat
It is known that belly fat can increase the risk of the person’s for developing heart diseases; however, recent studies show that it can also cause dementia in the later years of life.
The recent study had 733 middle aged subjects that contained more belly fat. The researchers have found out that the patients who had more belly fat had less total brain volume. Aside from that, the subjects or the participants are also at risk for dementia. The people who had more belly fat than those who are simply overweight have more chances of developing dementia.
Experts are reminding the public that it is necessary to lose weight and to lose belly fat as well in order to avoid the risks for developing dementia. The researchers suggest that further studies should be made in order to confirm these findings. However, health and fitness experts suggest that people who are obese, overweight, and have more belly fat should work hard to slack off those excess fats.
