Stretching as a Warm Up will not Result to a Good Workout

While some people believed that stretching is an integral part of working out, some just take stretching for granted. Most people are stretching before they workout because they believed that they can loosen up some muscles before working out so that they can get a better workout. However, recent studies seem to oppose this belief because the study claims that one can’t get a decent workout by stretching warm ups.

Fitness experts nowadays claim that static stretching prior to exercising is not really productive and can be potentially harmful. This is because the traditional stretches that we are doing are often causing the muscles to tighten even more than to loosen or relax. Tightening of muscles are not recommended for workouts. When the muscles are stretched to the full limit, it can be comparable to a rubber band that is stretched to its full limit.

Rather than stretching, the fitness experts would suggest that the people should consider a light jogging as a warm up. The light movement involve in jogging and other sports activities such as kicking or football can increase the heart rate as well as the blood flow to the different parts of the body, which makes the overall body temperature to increase.

Through this type of warm up, the body reaches the full range of motion to perform intensive workouts but in a controlled way. The fitness experts would say that stretching is still beneficial especially when it comes to improving flexibility; however, it should be done at a right time.
