Stop Being a Couch Potato and Live Longer!

Based from a new research, a person who does nothing but watch TV or being a couch potato can increase the risk of death from any cause by 11 percent and 18 percent increased risk of death caused by heart problems.

It’s nice and entertaining to watch the television; however, admit it or not, watching TV will eat up most of your time and literally, it will cause to shorten your life.

The study about Australian adults that are frequently in front of the tube found out that every hour they stay watching the TV would increase their death to 11 percent. Even though the study had Australian subjects, it may also be applicable to Americans, since the latter spend more hours watching TV.

Because watching TV doesn’t require physical activity, it doesn’t help in burning calories and fats. In a comparison between those who just watch TV and those who watch less, the latter have less risk of developing cardiovascular diseases and they can also burn more calories.

Apparently, most of the studies being done would be how exercise and physical activity can decrease your risk for developing cardiovascular diseases. However, there were not much studies investigating how less physical activity can shorten a person’s life.

If you want to live longer, physical activities such as exercise is very important.
