Although variety is said to be the spice of life, researchers are saying that it can also be the reason why the rate of obesity continues to rise.

The sheer abundance of food choices is blamed as the reason for the continued rise in the rate of obesity.  According to the researchers from the University of Florida, diversity in food choices can promote excess consumption, leading to obesity. This is especially true to those who treat food like an addiction.

In another study conducted by the researchers from the State University of New York, they found out that giving the same food for five days will lead to reduced intake; hence, promoting decreased consumption and weight loss.

The researchers suggest that meal monotony can be a great weight loss strategy. Meal monotony can decrease the appetite and reduce the consumption of calories. However, it still requires balancing meals to promote proper nutrition.
