Whether you are young or old, physical activity can make you smarter. Researchers have been studying the effects of exercise or physical activity to the brain and how it can help in improving dementia among elders. Researchers have found out that physical activity doesn’t only help elders with dementia but it can also boost the brain activity of young people and middle aged adults.
Recent studies shown that teenagers who are in theirĀ healthy cardiovascular shape have improved scores in cognitive tests as compared to those who are not physically fit teenagers. Although the researchers didn’t conclude that cardiovascular fitness is directly causing positive effects to the cognitive functioning, it may be assumed that cardiovascular fitness can help in improving the cognitive function of a person.
With proper exercise, experts believe that it does help in increasing a person’s cognitive ability by at least ten percent. By engaging yourself in exercise, you are able to relieve stress and relax, causing your brain to function better.
Aside from that a good workout will also make you feel energized and more alert. Alertness will keep you more focused and will help you to become more productive.
Thus, whether you are young or old, engaging in various exercises will help you in improving your cognitive abilities and make you more productive whether in school or at work. Exercise will also keep you physically fit and help prevent certain diseases associated with obesity.
