We are all aware that obesity is a risk factor for various cardiovascular conditions. However, recent studies show that obesity is now the main leading cause of heart attack and death.
Researchers have found out that regardless of the other risk factors associated with heart attack, obesity increases a person’s risk by contributing other risk factors such as diabetes and high levels of cholesterol.
The increase in the adipose tissues or fat tissues in the body are responsible for the release of inflammatory substances in the body. Hence, an obese individual who has a lot of fat tissues in the body also have a lot of inflammatory substances in the body. The inflammatory substance sends signals to the brain, making it think that the body is experiencing inflammation. As the whole process is progressing, it continues to increase the risk of death by heart attack.
Experts are reminding the public to be watchful of their health, especially the weight. The increasing rate of obesity also increases the morbidity rate due to heart attack caused mainly by obesity.
