Obesity Related to Home Temperature

While there are many factors that can increase the risk for obesity, a new study shows that the temperature at home can make a person obese.

Usually, physical inactivity and junk foods are blamed for obesity; however, researchers are looking for other possible factors that contribute to obesity such as indoor temperature and sleep deprivation. According to the results of the study, those who like to have a warmer home during winter tend to become obese than those who maintained their home temperature no more than 20 degrees Celsius.

Of course, aside from home temperature other factors, especially diet, greatly contributes to obesity. Experts are not saying that lowering down your thermostat will not make you obese but they emphasize that home temperature, sleep deprivation, physical inactivity, and diet are all modifiable risk factors. This means, these factors can be “played with” especially if you want to maintain a normal weight.

Researchers are suggesting  that it is important to eat healthy and nutritious foods while also maintaining an active lifestyle in order to prevent obesity.
