NEWS: FDA Doesn’t Approve Contrave

Contrave is a combination weight loss pill manufactured by Orexigen. It is a pill that combines naltrexone and bupropion to achieve weight loss. Despite the promising combination of these two drugs, the FDA still doesn’t approve Contrave unless Orexigen will conduct a new clinical trial that will evaluate the cardiovascular risks of Contrave.

Orexigen has already conducted clinical studies about the weight loss benefits of Contrave. However, the four clinical trials have fall short on the standards of FDA. Aside from that, these clinical trials have proven that those who have been taking Contrave who have less than 5 percent of weight loss have experienced an increase in blood pressure. Blood pressure increase and cardiovascular conditions were not included in the drug’s adverse effects but the results of the clinical trials have proven otherwise.

Because of these findings, FDA requires Orexigen to conduct new clinical trial for the effectiveness of the drug in terms of weight loss as well as the cardiovascular risks for taking this pill combination. Orexigen didn’t announce any plans of conducting clinical trials as of the moment.

Don’t just go about choosing any slimming pill that you come across just because it says that it’s natural. The best thing you can do is draw up a list of the diet pills that you think are suited for your purpose. Once that is done, conduct a thorough research on each one of them and only choose the one that is safe, actually contains natural ingredients, and has a history of efficiency.
