Lack of Exercise and Obesity Associated to Chronic Pain
People who are not exercising at least one hour per week have a greater risk of developing chronic pain in the back, neck, and shoulders based on a new study.
The study shows that obesity and physical inactivity may play an important role in the person’s risk for developing chronic pain especially in the mentioned areas.
Although it is not surprising, weight is a huge factor in the development of chronic pain. The research team found out that those who exercise for at least two hours per week have 20 percent less chance of developing chronic pain that those who did not exercise at all.
Chronic pain can greatly affect the quality of life, so it is important to determine what could be the possible causes of such pain. With the increasing rate of obesity, more people are at risk for developing chronic pain in the different areas of their body.
The research team suggests that people should focus more on increasing physical activity and maintaining normal body weight because these two can greatly affect one’s health positively.
