Live Longer by Eating Oranges and Green Veggies

According to a new study, eating a lot of orange and green leafy veggies can prolong one’s life and prevent the occurrence of diseases. Veggies like carrots, green beans, and sweet potatoes can actually help in prolonging one’s life based on the latest conducted study. While people may assume that it is beta-carotene that does the wonders, it is actually alpha-carotene.

Both beta and alpha carotene belong to the family of carotenoids which are antioxidants. According to scientists, carotenoids can help in preventing oxygen-related damage to the DNA.

Consuming foods such as fruits and vegetables is known to improve and strengthen one’s health. It has been known to decrease the risk for health problems like cancer and heart diseases. However, it is still not clear which is mainly responsible for such benefits. Because of this, scientists have been continuously researching about the benefits of fruits and vegetables and their components that provide health benefits to the human body.

Although scientists have still not found the answer, they are encouraging people to eat more of orange and green veggies and other nutritious foods rather than eating fattening and preservative filled foods.
