Exercising can Help in Fighting Aging
According to a new German study, long term physical activity can fight against aging. The anti-aging effect is visible at the cellular level. The researchers have focused their study on the telomeres, The telomeres are the protective caps found on the chromosomes which enables the DNA of the cell to be stable but shortens with age.
The scientists have found out that the telomeres shorten at a slower rate in athletes who have a longer history of endurance training. On the other hand, another separate study which was conducted in Sweden has found out that cardiovascular training is associated with increased intelligence and higher educational achievement and performance.
The telomeres are short sections of the DNA of a cell which is also located at the end portion of the cell. When the cells are dividing, the telomeres shorten and the cells are susceptible to die.
The study implicates that physical exercises, whatever form it may be, can greatly help in fighting aging. Exercise does not only help in losing weight to achieve one’s ideal weight, but it also helps in fighting aging and promoting optimal brain functioning.
