Easy Ways to Beat Stress Fat
Stress is considered as a part of life. We can’t avoid stress but there are ways to somehow minimize it. However, despite being a part of life, stress can also cause a person to become fat or overweight.
According to scientists, although an individual lives a healthy lifestyle by eating right and exercising regularly, chronic stress can also prevent that individual from losing weight, hence, accumulating fats. This is because the body reacts to stress and continues to release potent hormones in an attempt to help the body to overcome the stress. However, too much of these hormones can also disrupt the body’s normal metabolism, causing fats to accumulate. This would result to the individual getting overweight or obese.
In order to beat stress fat, experts have suggested some easy methods:
Move your muscles
According to experts, the simple movement of muscles is a great stress reliever. Actually, it is an instant stress reliever that fools the body by thinking that you are escaping stress. A simple stroll during your lunch break would be enough to move about and relieve stress.
Eat slowly
Being stressed or pressured at work can make you eat faster, which will also make you grow bigger or fatter. Instead, you need to eat slowly. Eating slowly and savoring the food can actually decrease the levels of cortisol in the body, the hormone that can affect the metabolism and weight loss.
Strict diet must be stopped
Ironically, strict diet can make you fatter than you thought. Dieting for a long time can increase the levels of cortisol up to 18% more. You can eat three healthy meals per day with snacks in between. However, be sure to choose the right type of food to eat and avoid those that will make you fatter.
Do not overload yourself with caffeine
Choose decaf rather than caffeinated. People tend to drink caffeinated drinks when they are faced with stress. Although caffeine can increase the metabolic rate, too much of it combined with stress can increase the levels of cortisol.
These are simple but it can help in combating stress fat.
