Generally speaking, inflammation is a part of the body’s normal immune response. However, inflammation is also associated with increased risk of developing certain diseases such as diabetes, cancer, stroke, and Alzheimer’s.

Actually, when there is chronic inflammation, this would imply that the body’s immune system is constantly turned on and it will begin to attack the body’s healthy cells and tissues while triggering the cancer tissues or causing plaques in the arteries.

Having chronic inflammation is not an acceptable condition. Inflammation is also associated with the foods that you eat, so if you are on a diet or you want to lose weight then you might as well avoid eating foods that can trigger or aggravate inflammation.

Choose foods that don’t trigger inflammation when you are dieting so that you can lower your risk of developing serious conditions related to inflammation. Some of these foods would include:

Herbs and spices

Wine

Omega-3 fats

Chocolate

Red onions, Tomatoes, Berries and foods that contain flavonoids

These foods have anti-inflammatory properties which can help in preventing chronic inflammation. While these foods stop inflammation, there are also some foods that promote it. These foods should be avoided because it won’t keep you healthy and might put you at risk.

Examples of foods that promote inflammation would include animal fats, white starches, excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages, trans fats, and those that are rich in omega-6 fats. These foods promote inflammation; hence, it would be necessary to cut back the consumption of these foods.
