Dealing with Post Workout Hunger
True enough, exercise is a good way to lose weight and maintain your ideal weight. Through exercise, you are able to burn the excess calories that are stored in your body while also improving your body’s circulation. However, when you are working out, your body is also utilizing the nutrients that you have absorbed from the foods that you eat.
When you are working out, your body does not only burn the excess fat stores, but it also needs nutrients to keep you going. This is comparable to a car that needs fuel for it to run. If you don’t pump your body with the correct nutrients that it needs, then you might experience fatigue and weakness. Aside from that, the hunger mechanism will also be triggered by the brain because you need to supply your body with the essential nutrients that it needs for it to work properly.
Actually, this is the reason why people would experience hunger post workout. The brain signals the body to replenish the lost nutrients. However, if you are on a diet, you need to be very careful with the foods that you will be eating post workout and you should also be able to control your appetite to prevent from eating too much.
To give you information, here are some ways on how to deal with post workout hunger:
Drink enough water. Before working out, do not forget to drink adequate water. This will help in preventing dehydration. Usually, the brain may signal that you are hungry, when actually, you are just thirsty. In addition, a recent study have also found out that people who would normally drink plenty of water a day are consuming fewer calories.
Eat a light snack before working out. Prior to working out, it would be much better to eat at least a light snack to give you enough energy during your workout. You can have a small energy bar or a high fiber snack. Just be sure not to make yourself very full.
Have your meal within 30 minutes after working out. It would be ideal to have your meal within 30 minutes after working out because it helps in curbing the appetite, according to a recent research.
Eat foods that are high in fiber. Post workout, in order to control your appetite and avoid eating much, you should eat foods that are rich in fiber. Fiber increases the bulk in the diet, that is why it can make you feel full without consuming much.
