Computing for Your Basal Metabolic Rate
Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), as the name implies, is the base rate of metabolism of the body. It is the amount of calories that your body uses at rest. The basal metabolic rate is usually used as the starting point to determine one’s daily caloric needs.
When you know your BMR, you will have an idea of the amount of calories you need to take or you need to decrease especially if you are overweight or obese.
There are several factors that can affect the basal metabolic rate. These factors include the following:

When you compute for your basal metabolic rate, you can use various formulations like the Harris-Benedict Formula and the Katch-McArdie formula. On the other hand, if you don’t want to hassle yourself, you can search for BMR calculators online.
