Caffeine – What It Does for Weight Loss
Generally speaking, caffeine is considered to be the most widely used drug. It is often found in beverages such as tea, coffee, and soda. Approximately, 80% of individuals are consuming caffeine everyday.
The chemical name of caffeine is 1,3,7-trimethylxanthine. There are numerous theories that associate caffeine intake and weight loss and some of these are:
Suppression of the appetite: Caffeine can suppress the appetite and make you eat less than usual.
Diuresis: Caffeine is a well-known diuretic, which means, it can increase the the amount of urinate that you excrete. Hence, it can contribute to loss of water weight.
Burns calories: Caffeine is also known to burn calories through the stimulation of thermogenesis. Thermogenesis is a process wherein the body generates heat and energy through digestion of food and burning of calories.
Caffeine, if used in moderation, is generally safe. It is helpful in weight loss and is considered as a good ingredient for weight loss supplements.
