The best exercise to target the main abdominal muscles would be crunches. Most crunches would usually involve laying your back on the floor.  However, if it is difficult for you to get down on the floor or if it is not possible, you can actually do crunches in a standing position.

If you would like to do crunches while standing, it may require you some external resistance. When you do crunches while standing, you are losing the resistance from gravity; hence, it is needed to have external resistance like a cable machine. It may be difficult to execute but as long as you have these materials, you’ll be able to do crunches while standing.

Doing crunches will strengthen your abdominal muscles and it is best done while lying because you don’t need other materials. Doing crunches while standing is challenging and also require you with more equipment; therefore, this is not really often advised.
