It is not known if Adipex is safe for women who are pregnant, as no clinical studies have been done on animals or humans. Problems reported due to use of Adipex-P during pregnancy include stillbirths and lung problems; therefore, pregnant women need to be sure to talk with their healthcare provider about any possible risks they might experience if they are using Adipex-P.

When a particular medicine is taken during pregnancy, the Food and Drug Administration uses a pregnancy category system to classify possible risks that may affect the fetus. Likewise, medicines that have not been studied in any pregnant women or animals are given a pregnancy Category C classification automatically.
Stillbirths and lung problems possibly related to Adipex-P use during pregnancy have been reported. Adipex-P has not been clinically studied in pregnant women or animals. It is chemically related to amphetamines, which is known to increase the risk of miscarriages and birth defects. It is not entirely necessary to take Adipex-P and it is normally not recommended for pregnant women, since there are no reports to prove that Adipex-P is safe to use during pregnancy.
